Jerry Gene “Bruno” Patterson Sr., 79, of Crossville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A native of McMinn County and a resident of Crossville, he was the son of the late W.H. “Bill” and Lena Sylvester Patterson. He served in the U.S Air Force as a chaplain’s assistant and played for the football team. He sang in a military quartet. He was a Golden Gloves boxer, an avid golfer and coached football for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and the choir director for Fairview Baptist Church for many years. He was a salesman for many companies until his retirement and loved music and singing. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Shelva Patterson, Roy Lee and Deannie Patterson and Earl Patterson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Morgan Patterson of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Gene “Bo” Jr. and Starlet Patterson of Franklin; two grandchildren, Ethan and Elizabeth Patterson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Ann Patterson of Harrison, Harrell “Panky” and Denise Patterson of Athens, and Brenda Patterson of Grand Prairie, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Thursday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Patterson and Dr. Jack Scallions officiating. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation and the American Diabetes Association.
