Eva Marie Key Brown, 51, of Athens passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at her home. She was born and raised and had lived most of her life in McMinn County. Eva was employed at the Gondolier for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene Hamby Key; one sister, Connie Key Noland; and two nephews, Justin Key Sr. and Xavier Noland. Eva leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Emily Key and Kia Key, both of Athens; two sisters, Lois Key and Angie Johnson, both of Athens; one brother, Joey Key of Knoxville; seven grandchildren, Jacobi Key, JaZion Key, JaKiya Rice, JaMezz Moss, Joe Rice, Jaxson Key and Kiani Simpson; five special nephews, Jordan Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Justin Key Jr., Joshua Key and Tyler Neil; two special nieces, Amber Neil and Amanda Neil; four special extended family members, Tracy Chester, Robbie Johnson, King Brown and Josh Moss; and five very close friends, Jackie Pierce, Janet Charles, Chastity Hooper, Flori Kitsos and Anastasia Kitsos. The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Athens Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 400 S. White Street in Athens. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow the visitation time at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Leuty McDermott officiating.
