The Texas National Guard continuously deploys their soldiers and airmen with the resources and technology necessary to detect, deter, and apprehend people that illegally cross the border into Texas. In conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, the service members utilize loud speaker to broadcast the newest policy changes that effect the federal response to border crossings: migrants who come into the United States between the authorized points of entry, their asylum claims will be denied and they will be deported back to their country of origin and barred from attempting asylum for a minimum of five years.
This measure is taken to inform the migrants that what they're doing is illegal, and since the end of Title 42 on May 12th, 2023, the number of illegal crossings per day have steadily declined by nearly 50%. The efforts of the Texas Military Department, the Department of Public Safety, and law enforcement agencies on Operation Lone Star serve the state of Texas and work to keep Texans safe from the harmful effects of illegal immigration.
