A son was allegedly shot by his father in Meigs County last week and charges are pending.

According to a press release from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived at a residence on Howard Road in Decatur around 3:42 p.m. Thursday.

Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim had reportedly been shot by his father.

The press release stated that deputies learned during their investigation that the victim had gone over to his father’s house and, during the visit, an altercation broke out between the two.

It was during that dispute, allegedly, that the victim was shot by his father.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment where he was in stable condition as of press time.

An investigation was then launched by the Meigs County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the 9th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing and charges were pending as of press time.
