Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union will host its Third Annual TVFCU Community Movie Night on Thursday, July 30, at dusk at the Swingin’ Midway Drive-In Theatre.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic, we know a bulk of community events have had to cancel,” said Holly Goines, Athens Branch manager. “We are excited to work with the Swingin’ Midway Drive-In Theatre to offer a socially-distant TVFCU Community Movie Night.”

TVFCU is covering the cost of admission for the showing of “The Secret Life of Pets” (PG) for 250 cars. The movie will begin showing at dusk around 8:50 p.m. However, guest are invited to arrive early to get a parking spot. Gates will open at 7 p.m.

To ensure social distancing, TVFCU’s Community Movie Night will only be available for the first 250 cars.

If moviegoers sit outside of their vehicle, there can only be four chairs and they must be placed directly in front of the car. If attendees come with a family group and park beside each other, there can be up to 10 chairs. Attendees must stay six feet apart when using the restrooms or concessions. The picnic tables and playground areas remain closed.

“We hope the movie will give families a small sense of normalcy as summer wraps up,” said Goines. “We started hosting TVFCU’s Community Movie Night a few years ago to celebrate our 25th Anniversary serving McMinn County. We are thrilled to welcome a second TVFCU Branch in McMinn County in early fall.”

TVFCU will open an in-store branch inside Food City in Etowah later this fall.

The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency (SETHRA) is now accepting online applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Criteria for applying online is:

• Someone in the household must have an email address

• Someone in the household must have applied for and received assistance between Oct. 1, 2017, and Sept. 30, 2019.

• You must have a way to upload the required documents (Photos from phones are acceptable).

Anyone facing a disconnection notice will not be able to apply for assistance online.
