Merriott receives medal of merit

North City Elementary School teacher Nikki Merriott was recently awarded the medal of merit by the Boy Scouts of America. Merriott (second from right) was awarded the medal for “actions that are just not the normal thing you would expect a person to do,” according to Robert Randolph, vice chair of the Unaka District. Merriott is shown here with representatives from the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts, along with North City Principal Holly Owens.
