Church Events

Athens Lutheran Church: has resumed its normal Sunday worship service schedule with contemporary worship service at 8 a.m. and traditional worship service at 10:30 a.m. There will not be any Bible study between services for the foreseeable future. The 10:30 a.m. service will continue to broadcast over a low frequency FM station for those who wish to participate from the parking lot. Church located at 710 Forrest Avenue. East Tennessee Treasure Hunters Club: Currently being formed for anyone interested in metal detecting and wants to be in a group that meets and takes trips in the East Tennessee area. Contact Joe in Etowah at 423-493-3706 for more information or to join the club.

Tuesday

Children of the Most High God Bible Study Group: meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at E.G. Fisher Public Library in Athens.

Red-back Hymnal Church Singing: is held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the McMinn Senior Activity Center, located on McMinn Avenue in Athens.

Non-Denominational Bible Club: will meet each Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the art room of North City School in Athens. There will be stories, games, and refreshments. The teacher is Pam McAchren. Libby Johnson has retired, but still attends. There is no charge to join the club, which is not directly affiliated with the host school. The club is designed to be fun for children while they learn about the Bible. All students in grades 3, 4, and 5, including Kids Connection, may join the club. Visitors and volunteers are welcome. St. Mary Catholic Church: Annual Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is held on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. following the weekly Wednesday evening Mass in the Parish Family Life Center. The sessions are intended for individuals who wish to join the Catholic Church or who would simply like to know more about the church, its teachings, and the Catholic faith.
