Aletha Angelyn Smith and Preston Cornwell Seckman were united in marriage on Dec. 13, 2008.
The bride is the daughter of Terry Burns, of Saint Simons Island, Ga., and William Pitt Callaway Smith III, of Waverly, Ga. Her grandparents are Beverly and the late Robert Burns, Mr. and Mrs. William P.C. Smith Jr., of Amelia Island, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. West, of Waverly, Ga.
She is a graduate of Glynn Academy and Auburn University. She is employed as the development coordinator for Habitat for Humanity of Birmingham.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Clay Seckman, of Franklin. His grandparents are Mrs. Junius Greenwood Graves and the late Mr. Graves, of Athens, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coleman Seckman, of Nashville.
He is a graduate of Brentwood Academy and Auburn University. He is a first officer for Pinnacle Airlines.
The ceremony took place at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica on Saint Simons Island, Ga. with the Rev. Raymond Lee Prescott III officiating.
The bride wore an ivory full alencon lace dress with a sweetheart strapless neckline and a trumpet skirt and carried a bouquet of cream hydrangeas, lilies and roses with green berries.
Melody Rose Smith was the maid of honor, and Elizabeth Pringle Seckman, Sterling Adams, Jessica Chancey, Cassie Morman, Ansley Stroud, Allison Brechin, Jessica Seagraves, Rachael Tucker and McKenzie Dewitt served as bridesmaids. They wore champagne jacquard cocktail-length dresses with an up-pleated strapless neckline and carried bouquets of cream roses and red hypericum berries. The flower girls were Ellie Seckman and Savanna Grace Adams.
Lindsay Sterett Seckman was the best man, and Adam Younce, John Seckman, Matt Garza, David Tauber, Trey Prescott, John Houston, Taylor Glaze, Jonathan Pears and Ryan Gray served as groomsmen.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Historic Saint Simons Casino Courtyard.
After a wedding trip to Saint Lucia in the Lesser Antilles, the couple is back at home in Birmingham, Ala.
