Anne Shell Nunley, 65, of Tellico Plains, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at her home. She was born on April 7, 1954 in Coker Creek, a daughter of the late Sally Smith. She was born and raised in Coker Creek, then moved to McMinn County for 30 years, then relocated in Tellico Plains. Anne was a member of First Baptist Church of Tellico. She was an avid animal lover and also loved all types of poetry. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Nunley; and the father of her children, Wicky Shepherd. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Michael Shepherd and his wife, Dawnta, and Chris Shepherd and his wife, Christy; two brothers, Allen Smith and David Smith; three grandchildren, Megan Shepherd, Lukas Shepherd and Makena Shepherd Fullbright (Josh); and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, Feb. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Tellico, located at 510 Scott Street in Tellico Plains. A funeral service will follow the visitation time at 7 p.m. The interment and committal service will take place on Friday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in Niota Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
