Mildred Heath Rogers, 99, formerly of Englewood, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at her residence in Athens. A lifelong resident of McMinn County, Mildred was the daughter of the late Eber Pierce and Dorothy Turner Heath. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jess Wilson Rogers; brothers, Walter Heath and E.P. Heath Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Howard Pierce; and infant sister, Madge Marie Heath. She was a beautician, and she and her husband were realtors and co-owners of McMinn County Real Estate. Mildred was also a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. She is survived by son, James E. Rogers, and daughter-in-law, Jane A. Rogers, of Knoxville; grandsons, Scott Rogers and Chris (Shelley) Rogers; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and best friend and caregiver, Debbie Morse. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, with funeral services at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Tallent and David Dockins officiating. Interment will follow in Joines-Wilson Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
