Patricia “Carlene” Brock, 82, of Athens, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City. She was a native of Dalton, Ga., a daughter of the late Carlton and Cora Whitfield, and was preceded in death by a brother, Cortney Whitfield. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s from the University of Chattanooga and taught at McMinn County High School and retired in 1999. She also subbed frequently from 2000 until 2019. She was a member and taught Sunday school for many years at Eastanallee Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John David Brock of Athens; daughter, Susan Moses of Athens; son, Andy Brock of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Olivia Moses, Lily Brock, and Baylor Brock; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Mike Fraizer officiating. Interment will follow in Eastannallee Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Baylor Brock, Andy Brock, Daniel Woody, Timothy Bookout, and Olivia Moses. Honorary pallbearers will be John Brock, Mark Moses, and Chris Woody. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
