Dallas James Chrisman, 34, of Athens, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Don Chrisman. He was a defensive lineman and fullback with the McMinn County Cherokee football team from 2001-2004. Dallas attended Carson Newman College and graduated from TWU. He was a former employee of Adient and Spa Haven and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Allison Womac Matoy and Michael Matoy of Athens; his father and stepmother, Billy Chrisman and Lisa Chrisman of Athens; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Josh and Crystal Matoy, Brandon and Ashley Matoy, Shawn Matoy, Chase and Emily Matoy, and Travis and Sarah Chrisman; a very special nephew, Hunter “Little Dutch” Matoy; maternal grandparents, Claude and Louise Wallace Womac of Athens; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Chrisman; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday at East Athens Baptist Church with Dr. Jason Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
