Jeremiah Joshua Guffey, 35, of Athens, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Starr Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mildred Anderson; and paternal grandparents, George and Ruby Guffey. Jeremiah loved computer gaming and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his mother, Melinda Anderson Smallen of Niota; father, Teddy E. Guffey of Athens; a brother, Justin Smallen of Niota; paternal grandfather, Roy Anderson; uncles and aunts, John and Paula Guffey, Ricky Guffey, Sandy Aken, and Roy Anderson Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
