Karen “Dianne” Malone, 61, of Athens passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at a Chattanooga facility following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Athens, a Christian, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Wilma Hale Waldrop. Dianne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Danny Malone; one son, Derrick (wife, Jessica) Malone of Decatur; and “The Light of Her Life,” one granddaughter, Macey Malone. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Serenity of Etowah Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, July 28, at 1 p.m., in Jones Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Waldrop officiating. Pallbearers will be Tommy Crowe, Taylor Cook, Tanner Cook, Trever Pell and Tyler Adams.
