Ronny Cecil Coffey, 64, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Wood Presbyterian Home in Sweetwater. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a son of the late Bruce Kenneth and Marie Jackson Coffey, and was preceded in death by brother, Bruce Kenneth Coffey Jr. Ronny was self-employed in construction and timber harvesting. He was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bear hunting. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Tabetha and Adam Hickman of Roane County; son, Stockton Coffey of Athens; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dr. Ben and Patsy Coffey of Sweetwater, and Timothy Coffey of Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Vernon Darnell of Cleveland, and Debbie and Scott Brakebill of Chattanooga; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Coffey and the Rev. Greg Hutsell officiating. Interment will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Clearwater Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Darnell, Bryan Coffey, Scott Coffey, David Darnell, Joey Newman, and Albert Rucker. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
