John Eddie Kennedy, 63, of Decatur, passed away Aug. 10, 2019. He was born in Athens on Feb 25, 1956 to the late Clarence and Betsy Kennedy. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator his whole life. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie Ricker, Martha Patterson and Becky Chandler; brothers, Rick and Donnie Kennedy; and first wife, Susie Kennedy. Survivors include ex-wife, Linda Kennedy, of Cleveland; sons, Rusty Kennedy and Dusty (Amy) Kennedy, all of Decatur; stepson, Charles Gee of Cleveland; brothers, Bud Kennedy of Decatur, and Doug Kennedy of Kentucky; sisters, Maxine Stokes of Decatur, Mildred Borden of Clarksville, Mary Ruth Kennedy of Athens, and Pat Kennedy of Decatur; several grandkids, including Austin and Sierra Kennedy, Jax Roberts and Khiya Conner; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service is Thursday, Aug. 15, at 2 p.m., at Bowers Funeral Home, with a burial to follow in Clear Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Borden, Ricky Kennedy, Mark Patterson, Johnny Patterson, Jacob Rimmel and Landon Gentry. Bowers Funeral Home of Decatur is honored to serve the Kennedy family.
