Gerald Matthew Mashburn, 49, of Ten Mile, born and raised in Farner, went to be with the Lord on Saturday Oct. 5, 2019, at his home. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Farner. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, children and friends. He also enjoyed four-wheeling, racing, and go-cart racing. He was a great welder and auto mechanic, a man of many trades and hobbies. He spent 21 years working at Textron/Collins & Aikman as a supervisor/technician. He was a simple man with lots of love for his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hayes-Greene; infant sister, Teresa Mashburn; and stepsister, Paula Greene-Tooley. Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Missy Campbell-Mashburn and fur baby Kinzlei Mashburn; father, Clarence “Cotton” Mashburn of Farner; stepfather, Jim Greene of Riceville; one son, Brett Mashburn (Stephanie Mashburn) of Ten Mile; one daughter, Andrea Ricker (Robbie Lucas) of Ten Mile; one sister, Lisa Maxwell (Collins Maxwell) of Athens; six grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Ely Brown, Tuff Ricker, Drake Mashburn, Lucius Mashburn and Zoe Mashburn; sister-in-law, Sandra Bucknor of Dayton; three nephews, Nicolas Maxwell (Courtney Osborne) of Athens, Brandon Tooley (Jasmine Mayfield) of Athens, and Jeremy Millsaps (Linda Millsaps) of Athens; one niece, Candice Bucknor of Georgia; six great-nephews, Axel Osborne, Johnathan Millsaps, Axel Millsaps, Jonah Millsaps, and Peyton Millsaps, all of Athens, and Gavin Minichini of Georgia; one great-niece, Gracelynn Tooley; and best friend/sister-in-law, Beverly Millsaps of Ten Mile. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9, from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Athens Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation time at 7 p.m. The family will assemble at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. and will proceed to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ten Mile for the 11 a.m. interment and committal service. Brett Mashburn, Robbie Lucas, Hunter Brown, Ely Brown Tuff Ricker, Mike Smith and Jeremy Millsaps will serve as pallbearers.
