Jason Whittney Curtis, 45, of Riceville, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2019. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Curtis; maternal grandfather, J.R. Crittenden; and paternal grandparents, Walter Paige and Louzelle Melton Curtis. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Joy Crittenden Curtis of Riceville; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Tabatha and Eric Price of Riceville, Amber and Brent Jones of Decatur, and Kristi and Larry Mingledorff of Georgia, Tiffany Shields of Athens, and Lacey Curtis of Athens; one brother, Gary Dean Curtis of Riceville; maternal grandmother, Ruby Vaughn Crittenden of Athens; 15 nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Scallions officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in McMinn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rylan Oliver, Devin Price, Dekota Curtis, Greg Shepherd and Tony McElhaney. Gary Dean Curtis will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
