Viola Inez Runion Hester, 98, of Decatur, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at her residence. A native of Gastonia, N.C. and a longtime resident of Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Will Runion and Cynthia Hester Nipper and was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Hester; infant son; daughter, Juanita Roy; son, James Hester; brothers, Norman Runion, Lester Runion, and Franklin Nipper; and sisters, Mae Lewis and Willie Runion Standridge. She was a member of Decatur Church of God. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Standridge of Decatur; one son, George Hester of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Fannie Lou Hutson of Gastonia, N.C., and Sadie Minge of Athens; and one brother, Roy Runion of Athens. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Frank Wright officiating. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dennis Standridge, Danny Standridge, Adam Bishop, Jasper Burkett, T.W. Berryhill, and Tom Wilhoit. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
