Lorene G. Hanson, 92, of Tellico Plains, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at her home. She was born on Feb. 25, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ora Golden. She was an Appalachian Native who loved the great outdoors and was a gifted artist that enjoyed painting rocks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Marshall Reeves; one son, David Marshall Reeves; and 10 brothers and sisters. Lorene is survived by three sons, Frankie Reeves of Athens, George W. Reeves of Tellico Plains, and Casey Allen Reeves of Lakeland, Fla.; four daughters, Helen Hampton of Tellico Plains, Faye Johnson of Tellico Plains, Anita Chance (Danny) of Fairfax, S.C., and Elizabeth Harris (Kenneth) of Athens; four brothers and sisters; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. in the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service time.
