Jimmie Ray Brown, 76, a lifelong resident of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at his home. He was born in Decatur on March 4, 1943, a son of the late George Farmer and Mary Lee Brown. Jimmie was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending his spare time fishing. In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by one son, Bryan Brown; granddaughter, Ashley Quarles; and two brothers, David and George. Jimmie leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Brown; five children, Steve, Shannon, Sheila, Adam and Michael; eight siblings, Dean, Dale, Phyllis, Evelyn, Johnny, Patsy, Kathy and Sherry; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 2 until 3 p.m. in the Athens Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 400 South White Street.
