Walking club at Morning Pointe

Morning Pointe of Athens resident Peggy Watson, Life Enrichment Director Diane Hutsell and resident Bea Rowe celebrate the inaugural meeting of the assisted living community’s Trail Blazers walking group with an outing to Veterans Memorial Park. The club meets at least once a week to explore Athens’ many walking trails and is part of a new wellness initiative focused on exercise. “We have purchased pedometers for our residents to check out and use on their own time. We are going to keep up with our steps and will be tracking how long it takes us to walk the distance to every capital in the United States,” Hutsell said. “We are also going to challenge the staff to see if the residents can outwalk them.”
