Car on fire

At around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, on Highway 39E at County Road 468 in Englewood, this 2004 Audi reportedly left the roadway and struck a tree before it began smoking. The driver and two pets were pulled out to safety by Trey Winder, then the vehicle burst into flames. The driver was transported to Starr Regional Medical Center’s Etowah campus by AMR. McMinn County Sheriff’s Department and Englewood and Etowah rural fire departments all responded. The accident was being investigated by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Travis Ryans.
