On June 26, Michael Coffey, the president of the local PFLAG Chapter, donated two books to the E.G. Fisher Public Library for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, which was on June 28. One of the books was a children’s book — “Pride: The Story of the Rainbow Flag and Harvey Milk” by Rob Sanders — explaining how the Rainbow Pride Flag was created. The second book was “The Mayor of Castro Street” by Randy Shilts — the award-winning biography of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in the United States who was later assassinated.
