Harry A. Ward, 69, of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, after a seven-year illness with Alzheimers.
A native and former resident of Lakeland, Fla., and former resident of Athens, he was a graduate of Wake Forrest University, and a former employee of Southern United Bank of Etowah, Gray-Epperson Ford Motor Company and J. Ben Forrest Furniture Company. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, and was president of the Athens Kiwanis Club for two terms.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur W. Ward, and his mother, Esther Lucker Ward.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Donna Tiller Ward of Cleveland; three daughters, Kati Jennette Ward Brazier and husband, Anthony Brazier, Allison Elizabeth Ward Davis and husband, David Davis, Victoria Ann Ward Stutes and husband, Matthew Stutes, all of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Caden Brazier, Megan Stutes, Ethan Stutes, Lincoln Davis and Amelia Davis; stepmother, Mary Glynn Bagby Ward, of Hopkinsville, Ky.; three sisters, Ruth Ward of North Lauderdale, Fla., Anne Raines of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Catherine Cothran of Brentwood; two brothers, Dr. Arthur W. Ward Jr. of Blythe, Calif., and James William Ward of Richmond, Va.; and special \"family,\" Elsie and Charles Gentry and their family.
There will be no public visitation.
Private services for the family will be held at a later date in Gatlinburg.
