Danny Bivens, 59, of Athens, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Frank and Idanette Pickel Bivens, Danny was born in Aiken, S.C., and had lived most of his life in McMinn County. He was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church, and was an author of science fiction novels and screenplays. His passions in life were being a science visionary and spending time with family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Janice Creasman.
He is survived by his daughters, Inga Acebedo and husband, Antonio, of Charleston, Danielle Bivens of Etowah, and Jessica Pinilla and husband, Benjamin, of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Vera Acebado, Zyhrina Acebado and Zachariah Meres; sister, Sara Gail Rogers and husband, Bill, of Etowah; brother, Ronnie Bivens and wife, Patsy, of Benton; special friends, Ricky Dills, James Webb, Linda L. Carver, and writing partner, Jerry Seward; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Danny\'s life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Mason officiating.
Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
