Samuel \"Sam\" Martin Morris, 82, of Athens, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Life Care Center of Athens.
A native of Monroe County, he was a resident of McMinn County since 1959. A son of the late John Columbus Morris Sr. and Sally Lucille Martin Morris, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Hardin Morris and John C. Morris Jr.; and sister, Iva B. Carroll.
He was retired from Athens Products and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Cranfill Morris of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly A. and John Ingram of Delano; two grandchildren, John Benjamin Ingram and Rachel Ann Ingram; sister, Etta Potter of Lenoir City; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Sweetwater Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Lee Ingram officiating.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
