Samuel \"Sam\" A. Richesin, 93, of Athens, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late John Summer Richesin and Mary Barnes Richesin. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marion \"Buck,\" Frank and Amos Richesin; five sisters, Mae Price, Laura Webb, Blanche Hyde, Delphia Hyde and Gertrude \"Trudy\" Richesin; his loving wife, Gena Thompson Richesin, who died on Aug. 23, 2011; and three infant sons, Billy and twins, Larry and Gary.
Sam was retired from Vulcan Material Company, where he was a loader operator. He attended Place for the Gospel Baptist Church in Sweetwater until his illness.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Martha and Richard Roberts and Rebecca Richesin, all of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Hurshul and Pat Richesin of Riceville, and Darrell and Patty Richesin of Niota; four grandsons and two spouses, Scott and Cheryl Roberts of Athens, Randy and Sabrina Richesin of Cleveland, and Davey Richesin and Eric Harris, both of Athens; one great-grandson, Tyler Richesin; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha Roberts and Savannah Richesin.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Fred Wilson and Brother Lewis Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Christianburg Cemetery in Sweetwater with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
