James Wilford \"Dink\" Harris, 68, of Tellico Plains, died Sunday morning, May 12, 2013.
He was born Oct. 31, 1944, a son of the late Henry and Vena Harris. He was a Baptist minister for 38 years and pastored Clear Springs Baptist Church in Athens for 19 years.
He was an employee of Alcoa Aluminum Company for 39 years and a member of the 25-Year Club. He was a member of Unaka Masonic Lodge 651 and also served as the Grand Master there in 2012. He was also an honorary member of Tellico Lodge 80, Meigs Lodge 213 and Etowah Lodge 653.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. His life was spent ministering to the needs of families in his church. His life is a celebration of Christ and his redemptive power. His was a life well-lived. Many friends and relatives will miss him.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law, Edna and Ben Gray and Roy Edgar Croft.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Harris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Randy Allen of Pulaski, and Angie and Johnny Thomas of Tellico Plains; two grandchildren, Shelby Allen and Tannor Thomas; one sister, Hannah Croft of Madisonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Penny Harris of Tellico Plains; and a special friend, Ben Rogers of Tellico Plains.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Biereley-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Teague and Bruce Lane officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.
Masonic services will be 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
