Roy Dills, 69, of Decatur, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was of the Baptist faith. He loved his children and grandchildren and was well known in Meigs County, where he served as 4th District County Commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Louise Waters Dills; and two sisters, Dorothy Ballew and Wanda Stafford.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Margaret \"Ann\" Daniels Dills of Decatur; one son, Jason Roy Dills of Decatur; two daughters, Angela Erwin of Cleveland, and Sheri Lowery of Decatur; one brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Connie Dills of Cleveland; three sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Bobby Haynes of Chatsworth, Ga., and Margie and Ralph Hicks and Jonnie and Gene Ballew, all of Cleveland; grandchildren including Jacob Baily Yates, Courtney Lowery, Heather Lowery and Addison Taylor Dills; one great-grandson, R.J. Roberts; one brother-in-law, Bill Daniels of Decatur; and two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Wanda and Rick Godsey of Charleston, and Brenda and Charles Lowery of Chatsworth, Ga.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack James officiating. Burial followed in Roberts Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
