Ina M. Coleman, 83, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2013, at her residence.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County, having grown up in the Tranquility community, and was a daughter of the late Nathaniel E. and Molly Wade Shultz. She was a charter member of Woodward Avenue Church of God. She loved to sing and was a talented musician, having served as the church pianist for more than 50 years. Her beautiful smile and Christian influence impacted many lives.
She was preceded in death by one son, Duane L. Coleman; one brother, Olen Shultz; and two sisters, Neva Scoggins and Edna Kennedy.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Cecil M. Coleman of Athens; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary and Willie Coleman and Tommy Coleman, all of Athens; grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie Vibbert, Tammie and Tracy Murphy and Nathan Coleman, all of Athens, and Lori and Robert Harbison, Jon and Larissa Coleman and Bethany Pritchard, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ansley, Abbie and Aiden Vibbert and Kelsey and Kylie Murphy, all of Athens, and Emma, Cole and Brady Harbison, Samuel and Sarah Coleman and Ava and Leland Pritchard, all of Cleveland; one sister, Ruth Monroe of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Woodward Church of God, with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Fritts and the Rev. Clifford Watters officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Paul McMillan, Nathan Coleman, Aaron Vibbert, Jon Coleman, Tracy Murphy, David Passmore, Hunter Brock and Robert Harbison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer\'s Association of Chattanooga or to the Woodward Church of God Building Fund.
