Mary Sue Land, 79, of Englewood, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Englewood and a well-known member of the Englewood community.

A daughter of the late Dewey Thomas and Lillian Marie Gunter, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. \"Coon\" Land; one brother, Leroy Gunter; and one sister, Dorothy Fae Gunter.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Vincent of Englewood; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret Hale of Etowah, Rebecca Porter of Englewood, and Paula and John Guffey of Athens; five brothers and one sister-in-law, Jackie Gunter of Englewood, Tommy Gunter of Cleveland, Gary Gunter of Athens, David and Millie Gunter of Cleveland, and Ross Gunter of Athens; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, J.L. and Hazel Land of Ten Mile, and Bobbie Land of Maryville; two grandchildren and one spouse, Heather and Brian Hicks and J.J. Atkins; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday at McMinn Memory Gardens with Brother Mark Sliger officiating.

Pallbearers were Steve Hale, Allen Gunter, James McBroon, John Guffey, Phillip Johnson and Robbie Ward.

The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
