Charley McClain Moore Sr., 84, of Niota, died on Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2013, at Sweetwater Hospital.
A native of Sweetwater and a longtime resident of Niota, he was a son of the late Clifford and Georgia Mae Strickland Moore, and was preceded in death by two sons, Alfred Bryson Moore and Leon Eugene Moore; two sisters, an infant sister, Violet Lee Moore, and Betty Annis Carver; and two brothers, Clifford Moore and Hershel Moore.
He was an avid carpenter and a heavy equipment foreman retired from TVA. He was a member of Sweetwater Masonic Lodge 292 Free and Accepted Masons and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Doris Ellen Nunley Moore of Niota; one daughter, Nadine Moore of Niota; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Charlie Moore Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, and Ronald Moore and his fianc�©e, Bobbie Thomas, all of Niota, and Sheryll McKenery of Okeechobee, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray Moore and his wife, Linda, of Niota; two sisters, Barbara Heinman of Sweetwater, and Mary Jones Clayton of Spring City; and several nieces and nephews.
A Masonic service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday with a funeral service to follow in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dawson and the Rev. Stacey Dockery officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Westview Cemetery in Sweetwater.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Terragrossa, Lee Gibson, Greg Shepherd, Tim Tarver, Andrew Wege and Kyle Stricker.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
