Geraldine Ada Sterling Melton, 74, formerly of Sweetwater, departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Williams; and her husband, Marvin T. Melton Sr.
She leaves to cherish her life and memory her children and their spouses, Paul Eugene and Karen Melton of Knoxville, Marvin Thompson Melton Jr. and his wife, Regina, of Dallas, Texas, Thomas Leroy Melton of Sweetwater, and Kaytheleen Elaine and Eddie Blevins of Bristol; her grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Chelsea Melton, Natasha Else and Morgan Melton, all of Dallas, Texas, Alana Melton and Aidan Melton, both of Knoxville, and Sydney Blevins and Sakota Blevins, both of Bristol; one great-grandson, Jayven Melton of Sweetwater; and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services were noon Monday at Sweetwater Bible Church with the Rev. James Upton officiating. Burial followed in Sweetwater Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the church.
M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
