\"Stella\" Marie Sutton Hilderbrand, 86, of Marietta, Ga., and a Cobb County resident for 67 years, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, after a short illness.



Marie was born in Englewood on June 29, 1926, to the late Jim and Laura Sutton. She is a descendant of John Sutton Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, early pioneer settlers in the Big Creek Community of Monroe County, and John and Mary Ditmore, who settled in eastern McMinn County from Charleston, S.C., around 1830. She was self-employed in Marietta as a beautician for more than 40 years and was then employed by Pace and Sam\'s Club in Marietta until her retirement at the age of 83. She enjoyed working with the public and was known as \"Stella\" at Sam\'s Club by customers and management for 17 years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga. She was a loving mother, grandmother \"Mimi\" and friend to many.



She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister-in-law, William Sutton, L.G. Sutton, Paul and Mary Sutton of New Ellenton, S.C., and Darrell Sutton of Athens; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Bud Emerson of Chattanooga and Lucille and Cliff Brooks; one brother-in-law, Hubert Culberson of Etowah; her parents, James and Laura Sutton; and two nephews, Terry Troutt of Chattanooga and Bill Sutton of New Ellenton, S.C.



Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Patti Hilderbrand of Marietta, Ga.; granddaughter, Katie Hammett and her husband, Jason; great-grandson, Hudson Hammett; granddaughter, Kelli Moore and her husband, Jonathan, of Marietta, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Barbara Sutton of Marietta, Ga., and James and Betty Sutton of Waco, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and F.C. Williams of Athens; sister, Mary Culberson of Etowah; and more than 19 nieces and nephews.



She was fondly known as \"Grandmother\" by extended family members Grace Anne, Maggie, Luci, Graham and Charlie Hodges, the children of Steve and Tricia Hodges of Powder Springs, Ga.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Children\'s Healthcare of Atlanta at www.choa.org or 1687 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, GA 30329 (please note in memory of Marie Hilderbrand).



Burial and family graveside service were 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sutton family plot in Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood with Dr. Jimmy McCarter officiating.



Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah was in charge of local arrangements.



Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home of Marietta, Ga., also served the family of \"Stella\" Hilderbrand.
