Donna Sue Humberd, 62, passed away on Feb. 6, 2013.
Born on April 7, 1949, she was an Education graduate of the University of Tennessee and received a Masters in Administration from Nicholls State University. She was a much beloved 30-year teacher and Social Studies Department Head in Jefferson Parish. Ms. Humberd was a lifetime advocate and activist for peace, tolerance and human rights.
The beloved and devoted wife of William Hemmings, wicked stepmother of Julia Hemmings and daughter of the late Russell Humberd and Jewell Humberd Sterchi, she was bread-baking sister to Ann Starr, Joy Lauderdale and Tom Humberd; aunt to Kate Coble, Drew Humberd and Jonathan Greenwell-Humberd; great-aunt to Aiden Coble. Special relationships to Meme Greenwell, Kent Nelson, Golf Phuphanich, Long Le, Suzan Russell, and Drew, David and Greg Sterchi.
In lieu of flowers, donations for Ms. Humberd\'s favorite charity may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, P.O. Box 548, Montgomery, AL, 36177-9621.
