Janice Carolyn Newman, 59, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday night, Jan. 29, 2013, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
A daughter of G.W. and Ovaline Webb, she was a native of McMinn County and a resident of Polk County and McMinn County most of her life. She was preceded in death by one sister, Deborah Ann Webb; and her grandparents, Lake and Betty Webb and Ruel and Ella Mae Yoder. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Brad Atkins of Cartersville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Meadow Atkins of Cartersville, Ga.; her parents, G.W. and Ovaline Webb of Etowah; and her fianc�©, J.B. Melton of Athens.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Condee and the Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating.
Family and friends will assemble at Goodsprings Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday for the committal service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
