Beverly Annette Jordan Smoot, 86, of Athens, died on Friday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Mexico, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Beverly and Gertrude Fry Jordan. She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, also a member of Alexander Keith Chapter of DAR and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had attended Central Missouri College and did volunteer work.
She is survived by her husband, Bransford Amon Smoot of Athens; one daughter, Ms. Melody D. Smoot of Wichita, Kan., three sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Thomas R. and Dolores Smoot of Centereach, N.Y., Dr. Richard J. and Cheryl Smoot of Columbus, Ohio, and Professor Stephen A. Smoot and wife, Young Ju Lee, of Seoul, Korea; six grandchildren, Brian, Kathryn, Eric, Sarah, Anna and Hannah Smoot; and one great-grandchild, Rafael Zayas.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennie Humphreys officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1, Athens, TN 37371-0001.
