Mikel E. Munger, 55, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville after a six-year battle with kidney cancer.



He was a native of McMinn County and was preceded in death by his father, Johnny E. Munger. He was of the Baptist faith.



Survivors include his mother, Elsie and Charles Gentry of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janice Templeton of Decatur and Kay and Dewey Warren of Knoxville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Cyrethia Munger of Etowah and Jonathan and Elizabeth Munger of Decatur; five nephews; one niece; and extended family that was always there for him, Joe, Lisa and Kyle Littleton; and a very special friend, Sharlene May.



Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood with Minister Mark Littleton officiating.



Active pallbearers were Zack Munger, Tyler Munger, Rusty Munger, Joe Littleton, Jeff McNutt and Brian Templeton.



The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.



Memorial contrubutions may be made to the McMinn Area Cancer Relief Fund, P.O, Box 352, Athens, TN 37371-0352.
