Clifford \"Gene\" West, 84, of Athens, died on Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Dave and Callie Holden West, and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Hicks, Truela Bell West and Willie Mae Ousley; and three brothers, Fred, Everett and James Henison West. He was a retired truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Reva Swafford West of Athens; a daughter, Conya Yarber of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Gene and Charlee West of Niota and Jeffery Klain and Pamela West of Indiana; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Swafford officiating.
Pallbearer will be Rudy Swafford, Claude Swafford, Mike Murphy, Donnie Swafford, Ben Young Sr., Ben Young Jr. and Garry Swafford.
