John Daly, late of Decatur and a native of Syracuse, N.Y., passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, after a lengthy battle with multiple cancers.
John was a communicant of St. Mary\'s parish and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus as well as a past Deputy Grand Knight. He is a 1965 graduate of Paul Smith\'s College in Saranac Lake, N.Y., with a degree in hotel management, and a 1963 graduate of Mt. Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
John\'s career included management of ITT Sheraton, Marriott and Princess Resorts and Convention properties with Holiday Inns and Hilton Hotels. He was CEO of a convention bureau and the Global Program Manager of Trade Show Central of Boston, Mass.
He is survived by the love of his life of 44 years, Rosemary \"Rosi\" Daly of Decatur; his son, Patrick Daly of Decatur; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tim Filotei; his granddaughter, Kelly Daly of St. Cloud, Fla.; his aunt, Beth Quinn of Syracuse, N.Y.; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1291 E. Madison Ave. in Athens with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Father William Oruko officiating.
