Jerry Glen Mincey, 41, of Athens, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
A native of Sweetwater and longtime resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late William \"Babe\" Mincey and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of Heil Trailer.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Shamblin Mincey of Athens; one daughter, Megan Danielle Shamblin and her fianc�©, Justin Morgan, of Athens; his mother, Mary Allmon Mincey of Athens; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Vicky McConkey of Athens, Mary and Randy McClure of South Carolina and Connie and Patrick Leonard of Jonesboro, Ark.; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Roy Mincey of Decatur, Ga., Randy and Tina Mincey of Sweetwater, Gene and Deborah Mincey of Niota and Gary and Margie Mincey of Sweetwater; father-in-law, Ross Shamblin of Riceville; mother-in-law, Jean Jamerson of Athens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Belinda Jamerson of Savannah, Ga.; special friends, Jeff McConkey and Terry Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Price officiating. Burial will be in Riceville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Justin Morgan, Jeff McConkey, Roy Mincey, Ryan Shamblin, Jerry Shamblin and Justin Axley.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
