Jean Evelyn Rowland Austin, 85, of Marion, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at her residence, with her loving family by her side.
A native of Athens, she was born on July 29, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Linnett Rowland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Francis Ruggles and Margaret Weeks; and one daughter, Karen Headrick.
Survivord include her husband of 67 years, Julian Austin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jan Austin of Talking Rock, Ga., and Kevin and Robin Austin of Marion, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Marion, N.C., with the Rev. Kent Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at First United Methodist Church in Marion, N.C.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
