Vivian Carol Walker Hodsden, 71, of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
A native and former resident of Knox County and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Jewell Colloms Walke, and was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Vonette Hodsden, and a son-in-law, Raymond G. Melvin Jr. She was a member of the Spring Creek Church of Christ.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and loved her flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, James P. Hodsden of Calhoun; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jamie Melvin of Calhoun and Donna and Bennett Northern of Corryton; one son, James Michael Hodsden of Athens; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Pat Walker of Ooltewah; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, three of whom lived with her and she called her special boys, Jacob, Lucas and Elijah, and one great-grandson to be born in February; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Minister Larry Jelley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Upper Spring Creek Cemetery.
