Lonnie Ray Belcher Jr., 48, of Niota, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his residence.
Lonnie was a native and lifelong resident of the Athens area, being born there on June 2, 1964, a son of the late Lonnie Ray Sr. and Margaret Ann Belcher. He was of the Baptist faith. Lonnie was a loving and kindhearted person who was willing to help anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Belcher; and adopted mother, Ruby Gladys Belcher, who raised him from the age of three after the death of his father.
Lonnie leaves behind to cherish his memory several brothers and sisters, Jessie Ann Belcher of Ollie, La., Billy Belcher of Reliance, Linda Massingale of Athens, Susan Miller of Sweetwater, Raymond Jr. Belcher of Athens, Betty Jane Stewart of Sweetwater, Bill M. Belcher of Athens, Johnny L. Belcher of Orlando, Fla., Roberta Ann Debes of Phoenix, Ariz., Bobby Belcher of Madisonville, and Randy M. Belcher of Orlando, Fla.; a special cousin, Linda Sue Shelton; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
