Junior Floyd Dills, 61, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Millard and Sarah Grady Dills, and was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Nina Sue Thompson Dills, on Aug. 7, 2012; and a grandson, Zachery Shultz. He was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan and he retired from Bowater after 35 years of service, and was also a member of the Steel Workers Union Local No. 788 and had served as an officer. He was a member of Mount Verd Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Alan Paige of Athens; one son, Jason Dills of Athens; one granddaughter, Alexandria Shultz of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rosie Bishop of Ten Mile, and Wanda and James Lockmiller of Athens; four sisters-in-law, Linda Grant and her husband, Gary, of Etowah, Reba Curtis and her husband, Charles, of Etowah, Janie Anschuetz and her husband, Craig, of Angola, Ind., and Haroldean Thompson of Etowah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Verd Baptist Church with Pastor Donnie Dalton officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Radley Lockmiller, Mark Lockmiller, Tracy Bohannon, T.J. Bohannon, Steve Hazelwood, Caleb Maney, Bobby Crowden and Brad Curtis.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
