Emma Kirby Stanley, 71, of Cleveland, died Friday evening, Dec. 28, 2012, at a Chattanooga health care facility.



A daughter of the late Mary Ethel Keyt Kirby and Milburn Lee Kirby, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Talon Alexander Johnson. She was a bookkeeper for most of her life and worked for several years at the Church of God Publishing House. She retired from the business office at Lee University with more than 36 years of service, where she handled the Federal Funding for Students. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music and spending time with her family. She was a member of Hopewell Church of God.



Survivors include her husband, Larry Stanley of Cleveland; three daughters, Carmen LaVonna Crick and her husband, Robert, of Cumming, Ga., and Jennifer Leigh Davis and her husband, Jeremy, and Tamara Lynn Stanley, all of Cleveland; three sons, Terry Kenneth Johnson of Cleveland, Clinton James \"Clint\" Stanley and his wife, Erica, of Trenton, Ga., and David Anthony Stanley and his wife, Sylvia, of Parker, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mary Stone and her husband, Kenneth, of Etowah, Treva Sharpe and her husband, Mike, of Apopka, Fla., Judy Kirby of Norcross, Ga., Eva Maynard of East Ridge, Ruth Light of Chattanooga, and Pauline Lemons of East Ridge; two brothers, Melvin Kirby of Sparta, and David Kirby and his wife, Linda, of Chattanooga; her special friend and caregiver, Gladys Sherlin; and several nieces and nephews.



The Remembrance of Life Service was 2 p.m. Monday in the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Millwood and Dr. Jerry Daffe officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.



The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
