Elbert Wilson Elkins, 87, resident of Athens, passed away at Life Care Center of Athens on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Ralph L. and Lucille Peck Elkins, and was preceded in death by his wife, Charlsie Carlin Moss Elkins on Oct. 24, 2010; one sister, Rhodora Ratledge; and one brother Joe E. Elkins. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church and retired from Mayfield\'s Dairy Plant in 1990 after 42 years of service. He was a member of N.A.M.I. and the Meridian Sun Lodge No. 50 F&AM
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Michael V. and Tena Elkins of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Elbra and Gene Morgan of Ooltewah, and Angela Renee Cormell of Chattanooga; one sister and brother-in-law, Dean and John Ray McKeehan of Athens; one brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Glenna Elkins of Englewood; five grandchildren and spouses, Brent and Carrie Miller, Adam V. Elkins, Benjamin Elkins, Brandon Morgan, and Brian and April Elkins; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Masonic service will be 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
