Shelva Jean Morgan Patterson, 76, of Athens, passed away on Thursday night, Dec. 20, 2012, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Emmitt and Dollie Athea Boyd Morgan, and was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William Francis \"Bill\" Patterson Sr.; infant sister, Shirley Dean Morgan; and an uncle, Roy Johnson Morgan. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Rose Cook of Athens, Pam and Ken Lazarro of Bailey, N.C., and Kim and Mark Stout of Cherryville, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, William Francis \"Pat\" Patterson Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Riceville; nine grandchildren, Matthew Billings and his wife, Tatum, Joy Smithson, Sean McLaughlin, Bryan Stout, Amelia Sawyer and her husband, Chris, Maygen Mayberry and her husband, Kyle, Grayson Stout and his wife, Casey, Paige Patterson and Blake Patterson; seven great-grandchildren, Madelon Billings, Sarah Billings, Justin Stout, Hayden Stout, Layla Sawyer, Nolan Sawyer and Levi Mayberry; one brother and sister-in-law, Emmitt and Carlon Morgan of Riceville; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Bob Bennett of Athens, and Sammie and Jerry McKee of Anderson, S.C.
A celebration of Shelva\'s life will be announced at a later date.
