Freddie Harrison Coleman, 74, of Athens, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.



A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Fred E. Coleman. He served as 5th District Constable since 1978 and worked in the advertising field from 1962 until his retirement. He was a member of the Meridian Sun Lodge 50 F&AM, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Chattanooga Scottish Rite Consistory. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty (FMF) and in the reserves from 1954 to 1962, serving aboard the USS Forrestal CV59, USS Cambria APA 36 and USS Chilton APA 38.



Survivors include his mother, Celia O. Hacker Coleman of Athens; one sister, Jane King of Athens; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and JoAnna Coleman of Athens; three nephews, Donnie Coleman of Athens, Ronnie Lance Coleman of Ooltewah, and Anthony King of Atlanta, Ga.; and two nieces, RoseAnna Coleman of Athens, and Sherry Clendenen of Rossville, Ga.



Entombment will be 11 a.m. Friday in the mausoleum at McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors.
